Marc, the B and B owner of La Residence de Gerard, who has become our friend, made a couple of calls two days ago, and discovered a townhouse just around the corner is for sale by an older couple that has lived there for many years. He arranged for us to see it yesterday morning. The townhouse isn’t at all what we have been looking for, but we enjoy Montreal and the views of the Pyrenees to the south. The townhouse has four floors plus a medieval cellar. It has a double door entrance on the north side, and has four symmetrical 7’ windows per floor on the south side - to maximize the view. The townhouse needs updating, but the sizes of the rooms are nice, the stairway is quite beautiful, the attic space has vaulted ceilings and can be easily converted to living space. It has a lot of positives, including a low price tag! We’re going to the Gers tomorrow to spend the next week looking. If the townhouse is still available and nothing else is as appealing, we may jump on this one!
