Sunday Morning

There were balloons taking off as we had breakfast this morning.  After breakfast, I walked around the village rampart.  It was a quiet morning in the village.

We went to Fleurance at 1, for a walkabout the arcaded square around market hall and to the cathedral, started in the 14th century.

From Fleurance, it was a short drive through the countryside to our friend’s farm for a late lunch.

We took a second walk around Lectoure at sunset, with heavy clouds and a few sprinkles.  A good day!

Point de Vue

We were busy today.  We slept in to 8, had breakfast, then went to the grocery.  We had a full basket, as we are restocking our kitchen.  A woman in the grocery store, asked Papa to reach something for her.  She moved here from San Francisco a few years ago and is quite settled.  We had lunch at home and I went for a walk around the village.  I stopped to chat with several people along the way.  We rarely go anywhere without seeing people we know.  I came home and worked in my garden the rest of the afternoon.  We went to a vernissage (opening night) at PK Gallery in Lectoure at 6:30 pm.  Afterward, we walked to Point of Vue, next to Brocante Village and the old Chateau.  The sky was heavy with clouds but the sun peaked through every few minutes.  The view of the countryside from Point of Vue is beautiful!

Family Dinner

We drove to Phoenix yesterday afternoon, to spend the evening with Claire’s family and Mary.  We had tacos and enchiladas for dinner and made s’mores for dessert.  It was a fun evening!

We enjoyed this morning.  I walked Colby and Emerson to school.  Papa and I walked with Claire and Apollo.  After lunch, we went to the airport for our flight across the pond.  Next stop London Heathrow, tomorrow morning, and on to Toulouse, where we’ll pick up our summer car lease, and drive to Lectoure.

Saguaros Starting to Bloom

I walk with Ornella most mornings, and we are noticing saguaros starting to bloom, along with palo verde trees, and brittle bush.  There will be more cacti blooming within a week.  Just beautiful!

Dinner with Friends

Last evening, we went to Ornella and Donato’s house for barbecued fish.  It was delicious!  As we moved in and out of the house to the kiva fire, we walked past a large pot of succulents with a quail nest full of 11 eggs.  After the fish was ready, we saw the mother quail sitting on the eggs, as we passed.  Beautiful!

Pima County Courthouse in Downtown Tucson

I went downtown today, to get my hair trimmed.  After my appointment, I drove just a few blocks to the Visit Tucson Museum and Store.  It is located in the old Pima County Courthouse, built in 1929 and restored over the past few years.  From the front side of the Courthouse, there is a nice view of the office building where I worked in 1979, when I first moved to Tucson.

Bobcat

We have a bobcat in our yard quite often.  He sat on the walkway and watched us inside.

Spring Picnic

The flowers of this spring continue to be beautiful.  From our back yard…

We had a picnic this afternoon at 4, at Manzanita School playground, with several of our Boys and Girls Club kids.  Two of them, Meybelyn and Natalia, have 4 year olds that met each other for the first time and became fast friends.  We ate and talked for three hours.  Our 11 “kids” are now in the mid 20’s.  We’ve known them over 10 years and they have scattered a bit, with several living in Tucson, two living in Phoenix, one in Los Angeles, and one in the DC area.  Getting together isn’t easy, because they all have jobs and busy lives.  We enjoy the moments we share with them, and are happy to share in their lives a few times each year.  We love each of them!

Spring Flowers

Spring flowering season is in full swing in the Sonoran Desert. I took this photos today.
