Busy Week

We have had a busy week!  We attended two concerts, the flamenco concert on Tuesday, and a classical guitar concert on Friday evening.  The guitarist on Friday flew in from Italy to perform, and he was excellent!

On Thursday evening, we hosted dinner for neighbors Ornella and Donato and Sheila and Joe.  It was a simple menu and we talked on and on.  Papa and I have been doing various home projects every day, from cleaning and repairing outside light fixtures, to spraying for bugs, installing a new rail for the two steps up to our bedroom, and more.  We are happy to take care of each chore.

Papa and I walked this morning.  More flowers are blooming each day.  The sky was dotted with clouds.  We enjoyed every moment!

Sunset

On Tuesday evening, while we were downtown having dinner and then going to the flamenco show, we missed the spectacular light show on the mountains and in the sky.  Ornella took these photos from her house, in our neighborhood. Beautiful!

Flamenco Concert and Dinner

Papa and I went for dinner last evening at the Cup Cafe in the historic Hotel Congress in downtown Tucson.  Dinner was delicious, and a prelude to the Flamenco Concert, with our favorite guitarist, Misael Barraza-Diaz, in the Century Room of Hotel Congress.  It was a full house!  We were seated at the third table in front of the stage, and it was difficult to take photos, but we enjoyed every moment of Misael’s guitar performance, and the very expressive flamenco dancer, Angelina.  A fun night out!

Native American Basket Weavers

The Arizona State Museum hosted a Native American Basket Weavers Expo today, on the lawn in front of the Museum.  We enjoyed seeing various tribal members demonstrating their methods of weaving and design, and the natural materials they use.  The baskets were beautiful!

The Museum was open too, so we enjoyed seeing a Native American photography exhibit, jewelry exhibit, and the vast Native American pottery and basket collections of the University of Arizona.

We are starting to see buds on cacti and brittlebush are full of blooms about to open.  A few brittlebush in our backyard have opened.  They are a few days from full bloom.

In Fargo

Papa and I arrived last evening in Fargo, North Dakota.  We are staying with our grandchildren, Toby and Greta this week, while Whitney and Corey go to Madrid.  This is our first visit to their new house in Fargo, and Whitney left us with several suggestions of small projects to do.  We woke up to a beautiful red orange sky, before the sun came up.

We drove Whitney and Corey to the airport just before noon, and within minutes of arriving back at home, snow started falling and blowing with bigger and bigger flakes.  It lasted about an hour, and the sun came out by mid-afternoon.

I rearranged the downstairs family room a bit, and moved Greta’s art table.  She spent time painting after school.

We had pasta for dinner with air fried broccoli.  Whitney has lots of kitchen gadgets, so I’m trying them out!  We played a new game with Toby and Greta, Chameleon.  It was a good day!

Dinner with Friends

Last evening, we had dinner in the neighborhood with our friends Ornella and Donato. Donato roasted pork, beef, chicken, and sausages over the fire in their kiva fireplace. We sat on the patio as the sun was setting. It was a beautiful evening.

Tanque Verde Ranch

We spent much of Thursday at Tanque Verde Ranch, adjacent to 1.3 million acres of Saguaro National Park East.  We watched dozens of horses in the corrals, then took a short hike before lunch.  After lunch, we hiked through the National Park for a couple of hours.  It was a beautiful day!  We topped off the day with a stop at the Medicine Man Gallery, to look at Western Art, Native American jewelry, rugs, baskets, and more.  A good day!
