Saguaro National Park

We drove through Saguaro National Park West this morning and hiked up to Signal Hill, to see the petroglyphs.  Rain clouds were blowing through and made the landscape even more dramatic.  We stopped at the National Park Visitor Center to watch a film about saguaros, then drove through downtown Tucson on our way home.

San Xavier del Bac Mission

After hiking in the morning, we took Hilde and Filiep to San Xavier del Bac Mission, enjoying the colorful interior, and treating ourselves to cinnamon sugar fry bread.

We drove through downtown Tucson, so Hilde and Filiep could see my favorite mural of the 1000+.

Ornella and Donato joined us for dinner.  We had a good day!

Monday Hikes

I hiked with Filiep in the morning, up to the trail nearest our house, up the foothills, then down into a wash, at the base of the mountain.  It was an invigorating hike!

After the hike, we all had a lazy morning, with sprinkles off and on.  After lunch, Papa and I took Filiep to Sabino Canyon, where we rode the shuttle up, and hiked down 4 miles.  We’ve had a fair amount of rain over the past two months, so the creek was running and we listened to the sound of running water in the desert the whole way down.  Music to the ears!  The desert is green, the saguaros are fat.

La Fiesta de Los Vaqueros Tucson Rodeo

We enjoyed the Tucson Rodeo yesterday, from the 4 year old cowboys riding sheep to seasoned cowboys riding bulls.  It was a fun day!
