We went to Lectoure’s Friday morning marché and bought fresh peas, strawberries, kiwi, cherries, and baguettes. We bought lunch at a favorite boulangerie. We saw several people we know, friends and neighbors. At 11, friends from Boston that have a summer place nearby, came for a visit. A neighbor came by around 5:30, for a visit. We went out for dinner with our friend, Vladimir, at 7:30. He stopped by our house and we walked up the street to rue Nationale for dinner at Lou Barbot’s. Papa and I had brochettes, served on a spear hanging over the plate. It was delicious and we enjoyed the visit with Vladimir.
On Saturday morning, we went to a vide maison - a whole house sale, on a farm about 40 km away. We bought some hand weights, a large ceramic platter, and Papa got a big box of tools for 20E. He spent the afternoon cleaning up the tools and was happy to have found such a buy! As we were returning home, our neighbors, Alice and Gerard, gave us a big “bouquet” of fresh greens from Gerard’s garden, and invited us to go with them on a walk at 3. I steamed the greens, peppered them and we had them for lunch with warm toasted bread crumbs. Delicious!
Our walk with Alice and Gerard, was through the village then down the hill on the north side and across the valley below, then back up the east side of Lectoure, through the original cemetery of Lectoure. It was a beautiful walk that we had not done before.
