Last evening we had dinner with friends and neighbors, Alice and Gerard. Alice insisted that it would be something light, aperitifs. Alice’s idea of light and ours do not quite match up. We had a multi course feast! Every bite was delicious and we enjoyed catching up on the months while we were away. Alice and Gerard live a couple doors down our street. They have become dear friends.
Papa and I slept until 7:30 this morning, quite late for us. We went to the Fleurance market by 9, and enjoyed walking around the Halle, looking at everything from fruits and vegetables to cane chair repairmen, kitchen gadgets, fabric, clothing…. We stocked up on fresh fruits and vegetables, two types of peas, beans, courgettes, strawberries, yellow kiwi, tomatoes, and walnuts. I prefer a handful of farmers and enjoyed chatting with one young woman that I always see. We had fun!
After lunch, I worked all afternoon in the garden, tidying up. I moved a few things that were dwarfed by adjacent plants, but mostly picked off dead leaves from winter and trimmed wild rose limbs. It appears we are going to have a bumper crop of grapes. I enjoyed every moment!
