We invited about 25-30 friends to join us on 11 August or 18 August for a night time tour of the ramparts of Lectoure. Our friends responded with about half able to join us on the 11th and the other half on the 18th. On Thursday, 11 August, nine friends joined us for a light dinner at our house, and three more met us at the tourism office at 9 pm, in time for the tour. For dinner, I served 7 layer taco dip in glass jars, with pico de gallo, guacamole, and chips. No one had ever had anything like it and they all said they liked it! Thank goodness! I served cups of fresh cantaloupe and watermelon, and we ate popsicles as we walked up the hill to the tourism office.
The tour was fun, with the guide stopping several times to give us history, and taking us to some places not normally open to the public, such as the boulangerie in the castle of the Count of Armagnac, with it’s ancient bread ovens. We ended the tour back at the tourism office, where we were served apéritifs. We had a good time!
