We are staying in the Gers, west of Toulouse. It is quite agricultural, with hill towns and castles visible every few miles. I love the checker-boarded fields, with sunflowers, corn, wine grapes, wheat, walnuts, and country lanes lined with plane trees. Sunflowers are being harvested now, and the fields disced up within a day or two. We’ve enjoyed watching the process of sunflower harvest.
