We left by 9 this morning and arrived in Agen by 10. We shopped a bit and bought a sweater and a shirt. Agen’s old downtown is rather grand, with carved stone, ornate 3-4 story buildings, lining block after block. We visited the Agen Cathedral, built in the 12th century and a listed UNESCO World Heritage Site. Colorful paintings cover the wall and ceilings. The courtyard entrance is currently covered with dozens of pink parasols. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and every French village and city takes it seriously, with pink ribbons and parasols all over. We had a wonderful plat du jour for lunch in a small restaurant downtown. Another good day!
