Yesterday, we went to the village of Chimayo, first to visit Sanctuario de Chimayo. Built in 1816 as a small village church, today it is a “shrine, a National Historic Landmark, famous as a pilgrimage site, receiving over 300,000 visitors per year, during Holy Week.”
We ate lunch at Rancho de Chimayo, known for it’s chef winning a James Beard award for it’s Mexican dishes. We also stopped at Ortega Weavers, to see the looms and handwoven rugs, vests, and other items. Audrey and I have been going on a neighborhood walk every evening after dinner. A great way to top off our day!
