Sunday in Agen and Moirax

We went to Agen on Sunday for lunch at a Michelin recommended restaurant. We are less likely to recommend it. The food was creative but their preset menu didn’t quite go together for us. After lunch, we walked to Agen’s Cathedral, Cathédrale Saint-Caprais, built in the 12th century, and a UNESCO World Heritage site. We had been there before and we were humbled by it all over again.

We walked to two other churches, and the remains of ancient Saint Hilaire, built in the 9th and 10th century, and later burned. The new Église Saint Hilaire was built in the 14th century, just a block away.

We went on to Moirax, for a concert by Fiuminale, a Corsican male duo that has played together for over 20 years. They were excellent, one of the best concerts we’ve been to over the past six months, and they played in the Église Nôtre Dame, founded in 1049. It is a beautiful church with good acoustics. I wrote about the église, with photos, Here, a few months ago.
