We left San Sebastián after breakfast this morning. There was little traffic because today is National Day in Spain and most businesses are closed. It’s a holiday!
We drove to Getaria, a small fishing village west of San Sebastián. We walked through the village, into the church, past the marina, and enjoyed views of the beaches.
We drove on to Bilbao, where we had a snack of crepes across the river from the Guggenheim Museum. We walked all the way around the Guggenheim and inside, enjoying the architecture. We had lunch at a recommended pizza restaurant.
We enjoyed the two hour drive from Bilbao to Llanes, a small fishing village. The parking lots were full of Spaniards enjoying Llanes on National Day. We finally found a space, then found our hotel. We took a walk to the east enjoying various pocket beaches and the beautiful coastline.
