Morning Walk on Rio Chama

Papa and I drove over to Rio Chama, parked the car, and went for a morning walk.  The river was beautiful, flowing through walls of red rock, and the air was cool, in the 60’s.  We enjoyed the quiet, with water flowing and birds singing.
We enjoyed a Zoom birthday call with our girls at 11:30.  Today is Claire and Whitney’s 37th birthday!  After the call we drove to Española to pick up a few things and for a take out lunch.  We took our lunch to a local park and had a picnic, then drove back to Abiquiu, where we walked about Poshuouinge Pueblo ruin.  The Pueblo was occupied between 1375 and 1500, well before the first Europeans arrived.  Over 7000 people lived in the Pueblo with over 700 rooms.  It is in complete ruin today, with raised areas where walls once stood, and obvious indents where the center of Pueblo activity once occurred, all overlooking Rio Chama.
