We met our friend Thanh at the bus stop at 4:30 Monday afternoon. We got to know Thanh when we stayed at the Hotel Doctrinaires in Lectoure, while we were renovating our house, in spring of 2022. Just before we moved into our house, Thanh offered to give us weekly French lessons, that lasted until we returned to Tucson in November 2022. We haven’t seen her since then, as she left Lectoure to return to Southeast Asia and Vietnam, where she grew up, on a biking tour. We are thrilled to see her again, and host her for a three day visit!
Our friends Caroline and Glyn joined us and Thanh, on Monday evening for a light supper and then a stroll up to Rue Nationale. We heard the drums on Rue Nationale as soon as we stepped onto our street, and they got louder as we got nearer. What fun it was, the best party scene on Rue Nationale, of our summer, with the drums playing nonstop up and down the street for an hour and a half! We toasted with champagne at Chez Yann as they passed, then we walked down the hill as the sun set, to watch their finale in front of the Halle aux Grains. A fun night!
