Montgolfières Over Lectoure

As we were getting ready to go to TerrOpera last evening, I looked out the window and saw 16 hot air balloons taking off from the rugby stadium.  We watched for about 20 minutes before we had to leave.  They were beautiful!

While having breakfast this morning, I looked out over the fog filled valley and saw balloons already in the air, with more getting ready to go up.  Papa and watched for over an hour as the sun was coming up, from our 4th floor balcony, as they took off from the rugby stadium, flew north over Lectoure, circled Lectoure, then flew south over fields.  Some got quite close to our house and the cathedral.  The Gers montgolfières association has a rendezvous every year the last weekend of August/first weekend of September.  It was fun to watch!

TerrOpera

On Friday evening, we went to Terraube for TerrOpera’s “One Nuit a L’Opera,” with David Levi on piano and exceptional soprano and tenor.  They sang a selection of songs from West Side Story, La Bohème, Cabaret, and more.  David Levi retired to Terraube after his career in music led him from conducting orchestras, operas, and musical theatre in the United States and Europe.  He founded TerrOpera in 2015 and his TerrOpera productions are world class and always enjoyable!  They are even more fun for us to meet friends for an evening of music.

Friday Morning Market in Lectoure

I love the Friday morning market in Lectoure!  Over the past three years we have spent almost 18 of 36 months here.  I have favorite farmers and vendors, and always see friends and neighbors at the market.  I buy most of our fruits and vegetables, bread, and cheese at the market.  I took these photos this morning.
