Carriolades Race

This weekend is Carriolades in Lectoure, with games, concerts, and dinners in Bastion Park.  The centerpiece of the weekend are the soapbox races.  Yesterday afternoon at 5, we went to Rue Nationale to join a few thousand other spectators, lining the street to watch the timed soapbox races.  There were 10 vehicles, all designed and built by people of Lectoure, propelled solely by the force of gravity.  The course runs down Rue Nationale, then around the block and back, three times.  The course is strewn with bends of hay bales, a hump in the road and sharp turns.  It’s all in good fun and we had a great time!
