Day in Canyon de Chelly

We hired a private guide before we arrived, and met her at 9 this morning.  She took us into the canyon for five hours, crossing the wash over and over, up Canyon del Muerto, and Canyon de Chelly.  We saw incredible pictographs and petroglyphs, cliffside dwellings too numerous to count, the famous Spanish Mural, Antelope House, Navajo Fortress, and we ended our tour at White House Ruin.  Human remains going back 5000 years have been found at Canyon de Chelly.  About 40 Navajo families live in the canyon today.  It is one of the longest continuously inhabited places in North America.  It is a beautiful place that is a delight visually, as well as spiritually.
