Playground and Museum

Monday, Memorial Day, was a busy day for us.  Claire and I walked early, with unseasonably cool weather.  We all went to Manzanita Elementary School playground, so Emerson and Colby could play on the new playground equipment.  We went to El Charro for lunch.  Claire left for Phoenix right after we ate, and Papa and I took Emerson and Colby to Flaundrau Planetarium and Museum.  They particularly enjoyed the shark exhibit.  Sharks can have as many as 35,000 teeth in a lifetime!  They also enjoyed an interactive planet video game.  We walked down the UA Mall and around Old Main before going home.  We had a good day!

After dinner, Emerson and Colby watched The Magnificent Seven with Papa.  Part of the movie was filmed at Old Tucson and they were fascinated by the old western “town.”

Old Tucson

Claire arrived with Emerson and Colby, just before noon yesterday.  We had lunch then drove to Old Tucson.  "Built in 1939 for the movie Arizona (1940), it has been used for the filming of many movies and television westerns, and music videos since then, such as Gunfight at the OK Corral (1957), Rio Bravo (1959), El Dorado (1966), The Magnificent Seven, and Little House on the Prarie TV series of the 1970s-1980s. It was opened to the public in 1960, and historical tours are offered about the movies filmed there, along with live cast entertainment featuring stunt shows and shootouts."  We rode the train, a stage coach, drove antique cars, watched a stunt show and a shootout, and enjoyed a petting zoo.  We had a fun afternoon!

New Dale Bag

Papa has spent lots of hours over the past few days, making my newest Dale bag, a cross body bag.  I love it!

Happy Birthday Papa!

Today is Papa's 73rd birthday!  Both of us feel incredibly fortunate to live a happy, healthy, traveled life.  Birthdays cause us to look back, and we are grateful for the life experiences we've had... marrying in Tucson in 1981, living in Dallas for 10 years after Papa made the switch from public accounting to investment banking, moving to Sarasota and living a "beach" life while Papa continued his investment banking career, and then our move to the ranch - the best years of all in many ways!  We have four beautiful adult children living successful lives and eight grandchildren.  We couldn't ask for more!!!  Happy Birthday, Papa!
I love you!
