Chrysanthemums were being sold everywhere over last weekend, because Monday of this week was All Saints Day, and chrysanthemums are the flower everyone seems to set on their loved ones tombs. The local cemetery adjoins the property where we’re staying, so we saw a lot of coming and going. We took a drive on Monday, and saw similar activity at other cemeteries. We don’t see a similar tradition in the US.
Papa and I went for a walk this afternoon. We made a turn down the hill, before we got back to our house, to visit the Saint-Clar cemetery. Brightly colored chrysanthemums dotted the cemetery. It was quite beautiful.
