Neocropoli del Crocifisso del Tufo

Late yesterday afternoon, Papa and I walked along the rim of Orvieto, then down the walkway to the Neocropoli, located below the tufa cliff, with several Etruscan tombs.  Each grave has the Etruscan family name inscribed On the entrance lintels.  The Neocropoli was used from the 8th to the 3rd centuries BC, and discovered again in the 19th century.
After exploring the necropolis, we went for gelato on Corso Duomo.  While eating our gelato, a marching band came down the street.  Orvieto keeps the celebrations going!
