On to the Southeast of Sicily

After an early Sunday morning bike ride through the streets of Trapani, we headed east toward Syracusa.  We passed by Valley of Temples in Agrigento and are anxious to explore it in a few days.  We stopped for a snack in Comiso, a city mostly built since 1000 AD, on a steep hillside.  We explored several churches, mostly rebuilt since the earthquake of 1693.
We arrived at Quarterella B&B around 4 and spent some time with Francesco, the owner, A man of about 40, with antique motorcycles and knowledgeable of Italian history, Papa felt immediately welcomed.  Francesco recommended we drive about 5 km to the city of Scicli, built in a gorge.  It was beautiful!  Scicli was full of palazzos and churches, buzzing on a Sunday evening with locals walking about before dinner.  We came back to the B&B, ordered pizza and salads from a local pizzeria, and sat at a stone table in the courtyard until after 11 PM, talking with other B&B guests from The Netherlands, UK, and Italy.  A wonderful day!
