Out and About in London

Papa and I spent the morning with Emerson, first visiting the “Walkie Talkie” building, where we had coffee and pastries, then enjoyed the magnificent views from the 35th floor Sky Garden, overlooking the Thames, with the Tower of London a block to the East.  We walked to the Tower of London and across the Tower Bridge, also into the oldest church in London, All Hallows by the Tower, built in 675 AD.  We stopped every few feet to take in the views.  Next we went to Borough Market, established in 1756, where we grazed the samples, bought strawberries, a giant pork sandwich, and a chocolate filled doughnut for Emerson.
After eating, Papa and Emerson went back to the flat to catch their breath, while I took the tube to Westminster.  I walked past Parliament and Big Ben (swaddled in scaffolding), Westminster Abbey, up past Whitehall, through St. James Park, coming out in front of Buckingham Palace, through Green Park to Wellington Arch, where I turned up Piccadilly to the Green Park Tube Station to go back to the flat.  A great walk!
We met Claire at the Marlybone Tube Station at 2:15 and walked to Colby’s school, where he was chosen to present a poem, along with several other kids.  Colby did a terrific job and was presented a certificate by the headmistress.  Afterward, we went to the Potting Shed restaurant for afternoon tea, which was an over the top experience!  We had a wonderful day in London!
