Dubai

We arrived in Dubai this morning.  After picking up our car rental, we drove toward Dubai and out into the desert.  About thirty minutes into our drive, I realized I had google mapped the wrong hotel, so we turned back toward Dubai and to the Meydan Hotel, located at Dubai’s Meydan Racetrack.  Meydan Racetrack is the site of the Dubai World Cup thoroughbreds horse race.  Prize money for the final day of the Dubai World Cup is $30 million, with $10 million to the winner.  The facility is valued at over $2 billion.  It’s pretty amazing!
We had dinner with Corey and Diane, Whitney’s college roommate, their three children, and Diane’s mother, Debbie, visiting from Florida.  They ordered in Lebanese food, which was delicious.  The weather was so beautiful, we ate at the table in the backyard.  We had a wonderful visit!  By the time we returned to the hotel, the lights of Dubai were colorful and bright, with the Burj Khalifa towering above all at 2722’, the tallest building in the world.
