Monday morning was abuzz with activity as Brian and Claire packed to leave by 8:30. We had breakfast, packed snacks for the kids going to the airport, and tidied up the house. We stayed until noon with Audrey’s family, while Dan had conference calls. It was nice to have a bit of one on one time with Lauren and Taylor, and we said goodbyes after a wonderful week at Bear Lodge!
Papa and I drove west on I-70 through Vail and Glenwood Springs to Grand Junction, where we turned south. The drive was spectacularly beautiful and became more dramatic as we drove south onto the San Juan Skyway Scenic Byway, passing through the San Juan Mountains, from Ridgway to Dolores, where we spent the night. For much of the drive, we were next to the Colorado River, then the Gunnison River, and finally the Dolores River, all full and running. We enjoyed every moment of our drive!
