We hiked King Canyon this morning to see the petroglyphs. King Canyon is near the entrance to Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum. The trail, in Saguaro National Park West, took us past several small stone walled buildings and dams, built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930's and petroglyphs etched into rocks between AD 300 and 1450. We passed several grind holes soon after we entered the canyon. We came upon the petroglyphs about a mile up. They were on both sides of the canyon. We hiked up above the petroglyphs to take in the views to Kitt Peak and Baboquiveri. Nice!
