Papa and I left home by 8:30 Sunday morning, to drive to Phoenix. We stopped at Picacho Peak to see wildflowers on the mountain. The poppies and lupine were beautiful!
We drove on to Phoenix and met Claire and Whitney and their families at a park near Claire’s house. Whitney’s family was in Phoenix for a few days’ visit. The kids played baseball and threw a boomerang on a perfect day in the sun! We went to Claire’s for lunch, then later to the community pool in her neighborhood, then back home again for supper together. We had a wonderful day!
Papa and I stayed in a hotel nearby Claire’s house. After she dropped Emerson and Colby at school, Claire, Whitney, and Greta met Papa and I at our hotel for a hike. There were poppies along the way. Greta took a photo of us.
We had lunch at Flower Child restaurant with Claire, Whitney, and Greta, then Papa and I went to the dress rehearsal of Boa Babes, a play that Mary is performing in at the Herberger Theater in Phoenix. Today is Mary’s 70th birthday, so we delivered her gift and sang happy birthday before watching the play. It was 45 minutes long, with song and dance, and the stories of five women friends. Very nice!
