We went to the Catania airport yesterday at noon to pick up Claire, Emerson, and Colby. We drove to Taormina straight away. The Greco-Roman theater high above the sea and overlooking Mt. Etna was a sight to behold! The theater is used every summer and there were lots of workers preparing for a nighttime performance. We hiked all about the theater and enjoyed the magnificent views. We stopped for gelato on the way down, and took the funicular back to our car. Emerson and Colby had fun in the lemon grove where we're staying for much of the evening, gathering lemons and running about the terraced trees.
