Our dinner at Alice and Gerard’s on Tuesday evening was simple and delicious! Alice is adorable and a special friend. I walked with Solenge on Wednesday morning, an hour through the Gers hills. I stopped at Michele’s house to pick up the Agnes key at 10, and picked persimmons and pomegranates from their garden. My friend Coralie came by early afternoon for coffee and we talked about plans for next summer - to work a bit on her family chateau. In the evening, Papa and I had apéro dînatoire at Elisabeth and Jean Claude’s house. All delicious and a nice evening.
On Thursday morning, Papa and I took drinks and a thank you note to Lectoure’s service technique crew who maintain the landscapes in the ville. They have done particularly nice work this year and the ville looks better than ever. We went to O Badiu for lunch, our favorite restaurant and chef! Susan and Anling came by for coffee late afternoon.
Friday was market day in Lectoure! I went to the market, mostly to say goodbye to friends. Papa and I met friends Pirrko and Nelson for lunch at O Badiu, our second lunch there in two days! We spent the rest of the afternoon packing our suitcases and preparing the house for departure.
Today, Saturday, our last full day day in Lectoure for six months, was quite special. We were invited for lunch at Auria and Christophe’s home. Auria is one of the five finalists in Le Grand Concours Thermomix in France, to take place in Paris on 29 November. She won the competition in Bordeaux in September. Today, she made four versions of the dish she plans to make for the final competition and we tasted each and commented on each of the ingredients. It was delicious! She also made lunch for us - two recipes she knew we loved from when she had her restaurant in Lectoure - a vegetable veloute with blue cheese and blanquette de veau - both delicious! Auria and Christophe invited another couple to join us, and it was an all French lunch with a fruit crumble for dessert. We were honored to be there!
We have enjoyed our best summer in the Gers, in 2026! Our friends have multiplied, our life experiences continue to grow, and we are fortunate to share time with so many interesting people.
